obviously this value is NOT a number, else Oracle would accept it with SQL*Loader and you'd be finished. Of course posting the errant loader records completely slipped your mind, apparently. And, drat, my crystal ball is AGAIN in the shop for repairs. I just can't keep the damned thing running ...
