Thanks for your reply.

I'll check the documentation and my installation for removing any database templates which may exist in my installation.

Also, regarding your question about SQL plus being a bit lacking, it's in regards to ease of use.

Now, while I *could* go ahead and memorize every command under the sun, and fat-finger every operation, many operations are quite simply much faster to do with an interface which helps you out a bit. For example, getting a list of fieldnames, table names, view names, etc, so you can more easily write your query, multiple windows to test ideas of variant queries, etc. One thing that is (apparently) lacking in either product is a convenient way to cancel a long running query.

At the risk of this getting a bit off topic, let's face it, while you *can* write e-commerce n-tier websites in notepad, no one really does. Or, if they do, they've been at it 17+yrs and counting <smirk>
