Hello,

after upgrading Oracle database 8.1.7.0 with patch 8.1.7.4 I cannot startup the Oracle anymore. This all happens on RedHat (7) platform. I login via sqlplus locally. This is what happens:

SQL> connect / as sysdba
Connected to an idle instance.
SQL> startup nomount
ORA-24323: value not allowed
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

And then nothing. Searching on metalink does not help me much. The issues there refer to faulty entries in tnsnames.ora and oralistener files. Checked these and they are OK, not that I think in this case these files have anything to do with this problem.

Any hints?

Regards,
