What is necessary is to read instructions that came with the patch.

Now would be an excellent time to do so.

I hope no one helps you until after you have read them because one can only wonder at what other issues might be avoided if you did so and I am sure no one would want to be partially responsible for aiding and abetting you in making a mess.
