if one cannot touch the code - or - a routine is frequently executed and has to run during hours when oltp users are also using the system - and it performs table scans, one could assign such a table to the keep pool and set it as "cache" as a work-around (duct tape) until the vendor comes up with a fix in a future release. worked for me.
