Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> setting up oracle client on linux error ORA-12533
Hello
I recently installed the instant oracle client on a Suse linux desktop and I've been trying to get sqlplus to work
I've installed
oracle-instantclient-basic-10.1.0.3-1.i386.rpm oracle-instantclient-jdbc-10.1.0.3-1.i386.rpm oracle-instantclient-sqlplus-10.1.0.3-1.i386.rpm
I've setup the TSN_ADMIN and ORACLE_HOME paths and also created a tnsnames.ora file
but still get the following error msg on my sqlnet.log:
Fatal NI connect error 12533, connecting to:
(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS
LIST=(ADDRESS=(COMMUNITY=TCPCOM)(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=144.243.79.20)(PORT=1521)))
(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=p01)(CID=(PROGRAM=)(HOST=max-linux)(USER=max))))
VERSION INFORMATION:

Time: 08-FEB-2005 10:39:50
Tracing not turned on.
Tns error struct:

product=network, facility=TNS
