i can ping the fc2 correctly. beside oracle the fc2 runs an apache httpd and a mysql database. and both works correctly from outside. so i think its not the linux network config.

i tried both. i used the netca utility and i configured manually. both had the same effect. NO LISTENER from outside.

the strange thing is that i can tnsping and work with the listener (and the database) correctly from the fc2 server. but not from anywhere else in the network.

i configured the oracle service on the client (on other hosts) the same way i did
on the server.

my little brains thinks that there must be something like a) an option that the listener is only shown at localhost. and the fc2 hostname is translated to localhost inside. b) or there is something inside fc2 to block the port 1521 i can't see.

hope for more ideas of you.
