You seem to argue the fact that if someone is rude to you (or your perceive them to be so) you have every right (or perhaps a duty) to be rude back to them, correct? I am curious, how does this attitude work for you outside of the world of usenet? I know that if I was rude to everyone who has treated me rudely (or any other way that's less than respectful), I would not have very good working relationships. At the least, I think that I would get into a lot of arguments.

That's not to say there's never a time and place to be angry (yes, since you mentioned it, Bin Laden should be hunted down) or to make a point by arguing, but in this case your reaction was certainly inflammatory without cause. Even if there was cause (as you seem to feel), what's the point/use in losing your usenet temper over something so miniscule?

Your comparison of your situation here to the U.S.'s responding to the 9/11 attack is extremely disrespectful to those who lost their lives that day, as well as to the men and women fighting and working to prevent that kind of thing from ever happening again. Let's put things into perspective. Received on Tue Jan 18 2005 - 12:48:27 CST
