The trick with 'csh' and its more modern derivatives such as 'tcsh' is this:

Use it interactively (it's very good in job control, interactive foreach loops, and command line substitution ... Bill Joy, the author, is a latter-day hero of mine ... still have a copy of his troff'd original documentaton for csh -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Joy ).
Don't use it for scripts (bash seems to be the best common denominator for cross platform scripting support on Un*x systems hosting Oracle RDBMS -- comments to the contrary welcome...)

And of course make sure you have a secure implementation....
