And I, too, should have been more precise about "think" :-)
Of course you can think - you should not try to guess what
someone meant with a particular question.
Maybe it was just a question like: hey, I've got this
bunch of hardware being delivered soon, what can I do
regarding striping?
Use hardware striping, use software (O/S, presumably?)
striping, or do it manually (which still is unclear: the
alternative you mention would be better that s/w striping,
unless you regard that is s/w striping (by Oracle), too)
Oh, well - still stabbing in the dark about the OP's thoughts...
