Oh dear. I knew someone was going to ask that! I have been intending to write articles on the "next" bit for a long time... I won't ask you to wait until I do!!
What you actually want to do now is
To do (a) and (b), you need to invoke the Net Configuration Assistant. At a command prompt, as the Oracle user, type "netca" (without the quotes, of course). Hopefully, you'll be able to whiz through that tool taking the first three options in turn, and it will all make sense to you.
If you get stuck, then you might find the answer under the question "Q. So with the patching completed, can I create my clustered database yet?" in http://www.dizwell.com/html/index9.html helpful.
To do step (c), you invoke the Database Configuration Assistant by typing "dbca" at the command prompt. Again, under the question "OK. So my GSD process is running, and I have a Listener. Can I create my database yet?", at http://www.dizwell.com/html/index9.html, you will find a discussion about using dbca. That article is tailored towards creating a clustered database, of course, but you should recognise most of the screens and my comments about what to insert on each one of them would still be mostly valid.
Once you've a database created, you should be able to type
sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
...to connect as SYS. What I always then do is type this:
SQL> @?/rdbms/admin/utlsampl
That runs a script which creates Scott and his EMP table. It also dumps you back at the command prompt. So, you then follow it up with:
sqlplus scott/tiger
SQL> select * from emp;
And away you go. If you get stuck, mail me like it says on the first page of the site. Or post back here...
And away I go to write that up into a proper article...
