Nothing that LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST can't give you, assuming your needs are modest... Oracle may "deprecate" the old parameters unless you have the Enterprise Edition, but sensible people, even with the EE, know that the old parameters work just fine to a certain level of functionality... and if your business needs lie within that certain level, there's no real need to venture forth into _n territory.
So yes, 10g is attractive, as one would expect of 9i Release 3. But nothing compulsively compelling without your wits about you. As ever, it is a question of matching the business need with the technological offering. 9i R2 isn't suddenly crap just because 10g hoves into view. But 10g's not hopeless just because 9i is functional, either.

That one is so much easier to argue! Try a 20% improvement in speed on the exact same hardware. Or "no dictatorial software vendor granting amnesties to companies that refuse to upgrade as if they were the supreme court". The only minus the penguin has is that a lot of software won't work with it. But choose your hardware wisely in the first place, and it's a non-issue.
