Yes, it is available for SLES8. Last known sighting was from the http://www.suse.com.oracle >> 'Support Matrix' and click on the oracle-suse version of interest.

orarun is basically a package that runs a lot of the niggly setup steps that we normally need to perform. One of the biggest reasons why I like SuSE for Oracle.

As an aside: one thing to remember is that SLES8 is an implementation of the United Linux 1.0 spec and thus orarun should work on any UL1 distro. (UL was never intended to be a product or distro, but a spec to which the consortium members could base their distro.)
