Well, I just tested it myself a few minutes ago (renamed sqlplusw.exe to jeff.exe and program was reported as jeff.exe. This may be dependant on OS and/or version. I'm running a 9.2.0.5.0 instance on a Windows 2003 server and a Windows XP SP2 client.
