I don't know anything about your RAC interconnect question, but I have dabbled a bit with Oracle Spatial. It appears to be very CPU hungry and if using spatial indexes is the main load on the system, I'd want to have faster CPUs above all else, which means I'd lean towards intel/linux. I don't have experience with RAC--so take my advice with a grain of salt--but my gut feeling is that "spatial" makes as much difference in hardware considerations as "RAC" does.
