Oracle PL/SQL and Oracle Portal - simple questions from the begner. (Need help)

I'm new programer in pl/sql in Oracle Portal. For now I just know how to generate simple html pages, but before me is a big problem - I'll describe it as follow.
I've designed one page in Oracle Portal with one text item. What I have to do is:
- create a link in the same page that will allow to set some new values to
entered text item.
For example: body text of Text item is : DUMIE DUMIE DUMIE, click on link: page reload, item body text is: NEW VALUE SET,

In general I must know how to: get text item ID,
- how to get item object/table/row for this text item(or any other item),

• how to set new values to some attributes of this item,
• how to save new values for item.

All should be done with pl/sql
