That is apparently changing. Rumor has it Oracle is evaluating or certifying the SLES 9. Personally I can't wait for that to be completed - there is a backlog of demand here.

From what I'd read ... per the agreement between the fabulous four (well, fab three plus one), SuSE provided the core for UL 1.0 All 4 apparently provided resources to stabilize the core. The installer and some of the extras were individualized.

(Quite some time ago I'd standardized on SLES 8 for prod. The above is paraphrased from the license and overview docco.)
