Before any change in the char set you should check with "csscan" if it is possible.

Since the two char set are different, you could have some problems. Therefore an analysis with "csscan" should be performed.

Yes. But don't underestimate the overhead caused by UTF8... i.e. if you can solve your problem with WE8MSWIN1252, just use it.
