Not a stupid question. They will keep it on for some period of time after the 10G is announced, which will be Q4 2004 if the study guide spam is to be believed. Their policy is to announce exam retirements six months beforehand. You can upgrade directly from 7, 8 and 8i OCP. Available now if http://www.oracle.com/education/certification/dba_upgrade.html is to be believed. (My reading of this is the single test upgrade from 10g OCA is available soon, but upgrade from OCP is available now. And mo' money, mo' money, mo' money for special accreditations maybe sometime if they feel up to it.) But I really don't know and have been steered wrong in the past by calling and asking Oracle Education.
I expect it will be some time before 9.2 is desupported, and by extension, OCP testing.
