It's not the first time it's done. SharePlex was based on reverse engineered redo logs. DBATool from DataBee reverse engineered export files. It seems that somebody has come up with a GUI version of DUL. That means that oracle will release DUL into the market, if they think that the product is catching ground. That has happened with SharePlex and Data*Guard. Oracle is giving it for free to put SharPlex to sleep. DBATool is not so much a threat, but I can assure you that Oracle is going to release such a product, if DBATool becomes too popular.
