Thanks for the responses guys. That is pretty much as I expected.

The software vendor that sold this particular application to my client has a DBA who is contacting me on Monday to try to save the data, if he is unsuccessful then I will most likely have to go the "send the drive to Oracle" route.

Thanks again and if you think of anything else I can try then please let me know.
