Yeah "kind of" the sql server master is "somewhat" like the system tablespace. But so much of the architecture is different between these dbms systems its a little dangerous trying to compare them directly.

If you are only going to be responsible for a limited period of time then you might want to spend most of your time understanding the backup and recovery environment that is (hopefully) in place for the sql server environment. If you come to the conclusion that your setup in that area is good, not so good, well documented or not so well, etc ... that will probably be time well spent.

There are a bunch of good books (microsoft and not) about sql server administration as well as the microsoft doc itself. As someone else said spend some time going over the basics. Received on Thu Jul 08 2004 - 07:43:48 CDT
