Oracle 9i performance problems on Tru64

Hi:

We recently installed Oracle 9.2.0.5.0 on a machine running UNIX Tru64 version 5.1B. We are seeing very high CPU usage for almost anything done on the 9i test databases we set up: Logging in causes CPU usage to spike up to about 90%. Doing things like a simple select (select * from all_tables) causes the CPU usage to go up to about 98%.

We tried fiddling with the databases initialization parameters, but nothing there seems to have effect.

Anyone have any idea what's going on here? We still have the previous version of Oracle on the machine (8.0.5) and we don't see anything like the cpu usage for similar queries on similar sized databases.

Thanks,
