Howard,

I've never tried this, but is it possible to make (incremental) backupsets from a BCV splitted copy of a database in that manner they'd be usable for restore/recovery on original database?

In theory, when you open the split copy in mount mode you could do the backup. The problem I see is that the backups don't get registered in original database's controlfiles - but recovery catalog can help here.

Has anyone tried this kind of backup model?
