I was had a problem that was slightly along these lines, although I
can't say that it was the same problem. In our case, we ended up
rebuilding the "broken" server from scratch. This meant formatting the
harddrives, reinstall the Windows 2000 OS, and reinstalling/configuring
the software. That fixed it for us. We spent many months trying
everything we could think of, but there were too many variables.
