Ack. I was thinking about a customer several moons ago who looked at an old version of Net App back when "SAN was good/NAS was bad". From what I've read the work they [Net App] put into their product, including 'guaranteed writes over NFS', paid off.

That said - I believe regular NFS is still not a viable solution except possibly in a lab environment.
