The thing that spectacularly annoyed me is the "mother-knows-best" 10g Linux installer. For chrissakes, it's got an OS version check in it!

I just spent ages downloading the thing, only to find it won't install on my only available test box, running SuSE 8 (.1 or .2, I forget...) Professional.

Yes, I KNOW it's not a supported OS. But 9.2 ran fine on it, and that wasn't supported either. I don't intend to raise TARs with Oracle asking how to install. I don't want support when it goes wrong. I just want to *try* the ^&($^% thing. So that I can tell my customers how wonderful it is, and suggest that they buy it.

I suppose someone will, in due time, post somewhere a method of bypassing this obnoxious check, and so I'll be able to load 10g. Or I could wait until 10g for Windows and put that on a Windows box somewhere. But maybe I just won't bother :-(

That really spoilt my day.

Paul.
