Well, if you're suggesting what I think you're suggesting, you're wrong. Statspack is not instance-aware, and has to be run from each node separately, just like the OP thought. You cannot collect cluster-wide statistics with Statspack, and a given Statspack report will only show the statistics for the instance it was collected from.
