The CPU_COUNT parameter once could be counted (!) on, but with the
newest multithreading CPU's, at least Oracle 8.1.7 may registrate 2
CPU's for each physical CPU.
Recently, I installed 8.1.7 on a W2K machine containing 2 - and exactly 2 - of these multithreading CPU's. CPU_COUNT showed 4.
