I said exactly the same to Norman a while back and he pointed out that actually NNTP is supported by Exchange Server, so IF you are accessing through exchange server AND using Outlook as your client, THEN you can use Outlook to read newsgroups. So whilst for most people using Outlook means running Outlook Express this doesn't have to be the case.
This would also give a different answer to the OP - ask your exchange adminstrator.
