Yes. The rule is that it is impossible to determine from the almost non-existent information you provided.

What hardware
What operating system and 32 or 64 bit
How much data
What size transactions
How CPU intensive are the transactions

The solution is to get your hardware vendor to give you access to their lab and benchmark on the equipment you are considering. Any vendor that won't give you access to the lab is basically saying they don't want your business.
