GUEST_USER_PASS needs to be set for a 'guest' using Oracle 11i Applications. The value should be set to a valid applications user.
It appears that this needs to be a database/apps userid, not a unix userid - something that needs more explanation though. Every reference I've seen states 'valid applications user' and identifies it in the same context as a database access (eg: ODBC driver, SID, etc.)
