How about a little balance here folks?

Professionals use software ...

TOAD gets recommended very often in this forum (including in this thread, as an alternative to DBATool).
TOAD is available as either a free or a commercial product (www.toadsoft.com contains blatant links to the commercial stuff) Not everyone knows about TOAD, some people who try the free version will actually pay money for the commercial product I don't think anyone would recommend against trying TOAD just because its functionality overlaps other tools or can be done with scripts (this with reference to 'reinventing the wheel' comments) -- by the way, did you know that the current TOAD Freeware license is capped at 5 users per organization? (see http://www.toadsoft.com/lic_agree.html) so TOAD ain't free anymore!

Professionals read books ...

Books get recommended very often in this forum (sometime by the author) Books are not available free.

Professionals get training ...

University curriculum gets recommended very often in this forum (by the instructor)
Enrollment is not free.

Professionals aren't offended by the mere mention of software, books, and training options (or by company and university affiliations)

Mega-spamming an alleged spammer makes more of a mess than the original post.

I appreciate Dale's response to this post, it was professional. However, after downloading the 'evil bee', I feel his posts could have been clearer as to what the utility actually does.

DBATool is free, but it requires name, address and email registration (TOAD does not).
It reads EXP *.dmp files. As such, it's probably not the most direct solution to the question posted, but it is of unique, if limited value. I will keep it installed, and keep it in mind for the specific task that it is designed to do -- and maybe even recommend it if i see benefit.

| Actually Daniel I would dispute that. For extracting any DDL but the
| trivial stuff the DBATool is far easier than scripts. It is also
| free.
|
| But I'm appalled at the idea of being thought to misuse this group. I
| really did think that it was an appropriate solution to the posters
| problem. But it is not my opinion that matters - its the groups. Rest
| assured it will not happen again.
