Yeah, the shortest possible.

Tell that to law enforcers... :)

Akshally, that sounds good. Or even simply README. But in keeping with the tradition of the Usenet I reckon it must be called FAQ.

Well, my feeling is that most newbies here don't really fall into that category. What we have is the modern attitude that something can be gotten for nothing: newbies come here and expect immediate reply to what in many cases are silly questions that could be answered with a 30 second read of an on-line manual. And they get their noses out of joint if Sy or Daniel give them what they deserve: a whack across the ears.

The funny thing is that these same newbies (and I've seen a few concrete examples) then go to one of the private lists or metaclick forums and behave in a reasonable manner. Ie, they don't give a hoot about their approach to Usenet because they're used to an environment where Usenet is just something that can be used and abused without major consequence.

I don't think publishing a FAQ here is gonna change that attitude one bit. But hey, it's just my feeling. If anyone is game enough to host one, it's fine with me.

A "fair cop" sends me to jail for driving a 914-6 the way it was designed to be driven? :D
