I found a post that may help. It is not mine, but may provide some clues or paths to consider:

We use Pro*C generated executables under FreeBSD extensively as most of our production machines are FreeBSD.

The trick is have the linux runtime 'emulation' and an Oracle Client tree installed under FreeBSD. We are using FreeBSD 4.3 and an Oracle 8.1.6 tree tar balled over from a Linux box.

Development and program compilation has to occur under Linux. We use Redhat 6.2 with Oracle 8.1.6 Client & Programmer installed. The tested binary is then transfered to the FreeBSD machine.

We expect to run client binaries connecting to Oracle from up to 1000 clients in the next year. It will be a blessing when Oracle finally sees the light and ports to FreeBSD. Received on Tue Nov 04 2003 - 16:47:24 CST
