I followed the instructions in your paper, which is very comprehensively written. And I found out that there were a few mistakes I was doing earlier which I corrected while running the dbca wizard, and voila it is working now! It successfully mounted the database:
SQL> startup
ORACLE instance started.
Total System Global Area 235999352 bytes
Fixed Size 450680 bytes Variable Size 201326592 bytes Database Buffers 33554432 bytes Redo Buffers 667648 bytesDatabase mounted.
