Multiplexing in RAID 5

Seen   a system with multiplexed  redo log files on a RAID 5  which is
not the best of practices.


I will like to change that with time(mounting the DB and moving the
files) but first of all would like to drop  the mirrored redo log
files .


Is there  an advantage of multiplexing redo logs on a raid 5 system in
the first place ?
