You might want to test the 64-bit vs. 32-bit option thoroughly. I started down the 64-bit path (under Solaris 8) earlier this year and had to go back and re-do it at 32-bit. If you use JDBC, Perl DBD::Oracle, or the like, you may find that 64-bit Oracle client doesn't play nice with the other connectivity software you have installed, unless every last bit of it is also 64-bit. (Solaris "ELF-32" type errors are the hallmark of this).

Also, try Googling "32-bit vs. 64-bit". You may find that contrary to intuition, 64-bit doesn't necessarily improve performance, and can make it worse in some situations.
