Replication from 7.3: Master site will upgrade to 8i tomorrow

Sorry for this; we've tried metalink searches, and we've called support, but we can't get a definitive answer, so if anyone here can offer advice, it will be more than welcome.

We are replicating (simple read only) from a 7.3.4 database into an 8.1.6 database - fast refresh with rowid (this by the way is across the Atlantic). No problems up to now.

The owners of the master site have suddenly anounced that tomorrow they are going to upgrade to 8i (I am assuming 8.1.7.4). We have *no* control over this.

When the owners of the master site upgrade, they will at the same time drop all their rowid snapshot logs, and create new ones with primary key.

In due course, we will drop and recreate our snapshots with primary key, and everything should be hunky dory (Richard?) but we would prefer to avoid doing that in production right now - waiting a week would give us some space just to prove it in a pre-production environment and to get the scripts ready...

Of course, our fast refreshes won't work until we do, but we can live with complete refreshes for a week; so my question is this:

Will complete refreshes work OK, or will we have an exception due to the change in size of the rowid column when the master site upgrades? IIRC, the rowid increases in length when upgrading from 7 to 8, and of course our existing 8i snapshots include the M_ROW$$ column.

Any input will be appreciated. In any event we will find out on Sunday morning; I will post results.
