In some of the posts you mention "you change the parameter" and in other posts you mention "you follow the manual".

Are you referring to chapter 14, Configuring Shared Server?
Are you using the Oracle Enterprise Manager or at least the Database Configuration Assistant to change the parameters? (As described on the second page of that chapter?)
