Installing 8i Personal on Windows 2000 Professional fails

Hi,

I'm trying to install Oracle 8i Personal on Win 2K Professional. I've done this on 2 different machines, and tried both "Typical Install" and "Custom". Every time, it fails silently when it gets halfway through "Checking Prerequisites" -- it just drops out with no error messages and returns me to the desktop. When I check the install log, the last entry is as follows:

What is DCE, why do I need it, and where do I get it??
