Possible but I doubt it. I know of companies that are spending so much money per year on Microsoft operating systems and, of course, the mandatory upgrade of MS Office that if they didn't do it they could double their profits.
From a purely self-serving perspective IT employees should be clamoring for Linux. The money they could save their companies means profitability which means they will be less likely to look at elminating jobs as a way to boost the bottom line.
