Yes, I realise that. I also realised before I posted that my suggestion comes nowhere near the original request to stop people *logging on* if they are going to do a batch job.

But I was attempting to take ther wider view: namely that he wants to stop such people logging on because he doesn't want them crippling his box. In which case, RM is a rather better solution than some of the others I've seen suggested.
