ora-12638 problem

Hi,

I'm using oracle 8.1.7 on a windows 2000 server. The server is now a member server, originally it was a domain controller. For performance reasons it was demoted tot member server.
A couple of weeks ago the domain itself was upgraded to native mode.

in the sqlnet.ora nts is enabled, and I want to keep it this way for various reasons.

When I start sqlplus with a domain account, I receive error ora-12638 (credential retrieval failed) when I start sqlplus. When I start it with a local user account, it works fine.
When I start it with the domain account, there are a couple of 677 errors, failure code 0x12 in the security log of the domain controller.

Does anyone have an idea to fix this?
Any clues to debug it?
