Thanks for the reply -- and for not trashing me! I continue to learn . .

I really was asking the OP -- and half expecting to get corrected! <g>

Offhand, I couldn't recall that it was possible to directly offline a single file, so thought the question of offlineing TS vs offlineing file was like asking "what's the difference between a duck?" and was trying to lead the op to that. I did a quick check of the SQL reference (tahiti -- Oracle 8.1.7) to make sure I was on solid ground. Obviously, my check wasn't thorough enough! I just now retraced my steps (browser history still had all the links highlighted) and sure enough, there it was and sure enough, I had failed to pick it up! How embarrasing!

I'll keep trying and keep learning. If you vets promise not to get impatient with me, I'll promise to try to do my homework better and to not (unilke some I've seen recently) get into p***ing matches over 'experience' or 'credentials.'
