You're right Howard, I recall running into that before. Thanks for the reminder. As everyone else, I do sometimes forget.

Also, one of the points I was trying to make was that 9i tnsping would work to the 8.0.6 listener, but, sqlplus would not work to the DB. That told me there was something either incorrect on how TNS was setup, or, it just wasn't possible to use the 9i client and DB Links in a 9i Instance to an 8.0.6. Searching metalinks, support docs I found showed that the 9i client works with 8.0.6.

Hope this helps someone else. I shall post no more to this thread.
