DOS box with SQL*Plus Worksheet

When I start SQL*Plus Worksheet coming with 9.2.0.1.0, I also get a DOS box running E:\<ORAHOME>\bin\sqlplus.exe (in Task Manager I see jrew.exe as well as sqlplus.exe). Killing this DOS box results in an Oracle Enterprise Manager message box saying 'SQL*Plus Worksheet exited' (sqlplus.exe already disappears then from Task Manager), when clicking the OK button SQL*Plus Worksheet indeed exits (and also jrew.exe disappears from Task Manager).

Why this DOS box? I do not get that with 8.x (but I do also get an sqlplus.exe in Task Manager).

Did Oracle forget to hide the DOS box in 9.x or something?
