The app is production now, without foreign key indexes, performing full table scans on almost all queries. Needless to say bind variables are unknown to the app, and we currently have only a fraction of the projected end-users, and it is running on NT.
As the app is production, it can't be changed in an 'uncontrolled'
fashion anymore, and a formal change request has to be submitted and
to be agreed upon. In this change procedure (which is basically an
ITIL feature) we have standard and non-standard changes. A standard
change means changing a password etc (so the trivial actions), and it
is free of charge. For non-standard changes the customer will have to
pay.
The bad thing about this all is that the customer is a department in
our own firm, and the app is going to be used *globally*
