an export consists of a series of inserts. The table's organization is 100 percent irrelevant. Your problems must be unrelated to DMT LMT business, or you or other parties are exporting with compress=y, which is the default. This is almost invariable a bad idea. This behavior can be prevented by running imp with show=y full=y log=<any file>, edit <any file> into a proper sql script and precreate the tables.
