That's got nothing to do with it. Did you, by any chance, restore the *entire* database? Including the online redo logs? Because if so, it's not surprising that no recovery is possible -because no recovery is required!

If you don't restore the redo logs, then recovery will be prompted.

There's very little need for anything other than the backup to trace, unless you are using RMAN without a recovery catalog (because RMAN stores its stuff in that case in the control file of the target database, and that information is not included in the backup-to-trace file. And quite clearly you aren't using RMAN for this exercise.
